Del Mar Thoroughbred Club has selected Hunter as the irrigation manufacturer of choice for their upcoming installation of a new turf course. The seaside racing headquarters, known for its cool Pacific Ocean breezes and its world-class Thoroughbred racing, is located in Del Mar, about 20 miles north of San Diego. and was designed in conjunction with Steve Baker of Independent Irrigation located in Oceanside, CA. Giving way to a larger, 80 ft. wide turf course, the project provides for future opportunities to hold larger racing events.

The turf course, designed by Steve Baker of Independent Irrigation, will feature Hunter’s I-90 and I-40 rotors, IBV valves, and Pilot central control system. Additional grounds areas featuring native plant material will be watered using Hunter’s multi-stream, multi-trajectory nozzle, the MP Rotator.

"Hunter’s Pilot control system allows for custom scheduling to meet the exact irrigation needs during the peak of the racing season," explains Troy Leezy, Hunter’s marketing manager. "Its real time water monitoring capabilities as well as remote log in to its software platform make it a great choice for the track."

The project is currently underway with completion scheduled in time for opening day of the 2014 race season.  To learn about the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club visit dmtc.com
