Specifications for the MP Rotator Nozzle were first sketched on a napkin in 1973. This revolutionary irrigation device was introduced to the landscape industry in 2001. Hunter officially acquired the MP Rotator Nozzle in 2007, offering 13 models with variable arcs, adjustable radii, and specialized solutions for a variety of landscape shapes.
Why Is the MP Rotator Nozzle So Special?
The landscape industry had never seen an application solution capable of irrigating from 8' to 30' with a consistent application rate of 0.4 in/hr while using significantly less water than conventional sprays. Along with high-efficiency application, the MP Rotator Nozzle offers several key benefits:
- Fewer valves required per project
- Fewer heads needed compared to traditional sprays
- Reduced water consumption and enhanced water conservation through high application efficiency
- Less runoff and water waste due to low precipitation rates and large water droplets
- Lower maintenance demands, thanks to double-pop engineering and design
- Reduced stress on irrigation system and infrastructure
- And much more!
Listening to the Market: Feedback and Innovations
Through direct feedback and market research, we identified three key needs to enhance irrigation efficiency and versatility. These insights shaped our approach to developing the MP Rotator lineup, ensuring our solutions meet the evolving demands of landscape professionals.
- Larger radius options
- Shorter radius solutions
- Higher precipitation rates
In response, we introduced the MP-3500 Nozzle, featuring an adjustable arc from 90° to 210° and an adjustable radius of 31' to 35'. Next came the MP-800SR, offering a 6' to 12' radius with a precipitation rate of 0.8 in/hr. This increase was embraced by landscape professionals and water managers, enabling shorter water windows compared to the 0.4 in/hr rate of the original MP Rotator Standard Nozzle. Building on this success, the MP-815 followed, extending the 0.8 in/hr precipitation rate to cover areas from 8' to 16'.
To further expand the high precipitation rate lineup, we introduced the MP-820 in 2024. This latest model delivers all the benefits of the original nozzle with a 0.8 in/hr precipitation rate for coverage from 6' to 24'.
Today, Hunter offers 22 models of MP Rotator Nozzles, providing unmatched flexibility, water conservation, and system longevity. Learn more about the new MP-820 Nozzle and the entire MP Rotator Family here.
