The WVOM and the WVL models can be updated in the field, over the air (OTA), if new Firmware becomes available.
Firmware updates are large downloads and can take up to 2 hours. Do not start an update if you need to irrigate or perform other diagnostic functions within this time.
When new firmware is released to the app sites, you will receive a message when you open the app that announces a new version. You may choose to Skip the update or choose to Update immediately. WVLs with older firmware versions for which an update is available will show an orange icon next to their version numbers on the Details screen as a reminder.
Firmware updates are essential, offering new features or significant fixes. However, be aware that they will interrupt or prevent scheduled irrigation, until they are complete.
IMPORTANT: Updates can also deplete battery life, and the update will not be complete if the WVL batteries are too low to complete the process. If battery is below 30% the app will show a warning to prompt the user to replace the batteries.
Model | Current Firmware |
---|---|
WVOM | Version 1.3.4 |
WVL | Version 1.7.0 |
Bluetooth | Version 2.4.0 |
Repeater | Version 1.32.0 |
When the update is available, the data must be transferred first via Bluetooth before you can leave the site for the initial download. Transferring the Firmware from your mobile device to the WVOM will take seconds. Once that is complete, the more extended download to the WVL devices will take 1-2 hours, depending on the number of devices on the system. This is done from the WVOM to WVL(s) via LoRa radio. You can leave the site with your mobile device for this download.
