PILOT-IH - Decoder Module Diagnostic LED Lights

Decoder Module Diagnostic LED Lights

Each decoder output module is equipped with diagnostic LED lights. Each light is labeled on the output module. Normal operations of this module will have the Line Status solid green while the Communicating light will be blinking green occasionally. During an overload status, it is not uncommon to see the Line Status light off and the Decoder Fault light blinking red. When this occurs, no power comes out of the decoder module. This is a safety mechanism so no power will backfeed into the controller and cause any damage. Start removing two-wire paths to get ohm measurements to find which wire path(s) have been compromised.

0-10K ohms Dead Short

10K-100K ohms Partial Short

100K-350K ohms Will have communication issues

350K-600K ohms Fine but possibly may have communication issues

600K-900K ohms Good wire path

900K-1.2M ohms Very good wire path

1.2M+ ohms Excellent or an open wire path
